My family has a great heritage. We have some famous and not so famous ancestors. This blog will attempt to introduce you to some of them. Also I hope to reveal the trials and challenges of trying to trace them.
One of my goals along the way is to find out about their way of life, occupations, and whether they were religious. Especially, find out if they knew the Lord as Savior. If so, I look forward to meeting them in Heaven one day.
John 3:16-21 KJV
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
(17) For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
(18) He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
(19) And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
(20) For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.
(21) But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

I think it’s the history and context within which our ancestors lived that make genealogy so interesting, the history bit of Family History! So many aspects to research and how they impacted on our ancestors is more interesting that merely seeing how far back in time you can get in a hurry! Our travels this week into Cornwall will reveal something of their occupations and family life with the rise of Methodism too as brought into the county by John Wesley. 👍

I mentioned on your FB page that my mom had done a huge amount of genealogy study on our family and learned a lot, but one thing she did not learn — that my nephew later discovered — was that we had a relative who was included in Foxe’s Book of Martyrs. I was so astounded when he shared that information with us, and it just made me even more aware that the generations before us no doubt had a great influence, through their prayers, on where we are today spiritually. I know I had at least one great-grandmother who was a strong Christian and lived every part of her life based on her faith. Her life has been a real encouragement to me, and today I own her old wooden rocking chair and think of her when I sit there to read the Word or pray. So here’s hoping you discover some ancestors whose lives inspire and encourage your faith as well.
